A Danish youth international goalkeeper, Martin Hansen arrived at Anfield from Brondby in the summer of 2006 and spent his first year at the Academy, where he was in the FA Youth Cup winning side of 2007. He broke his finger in the warm up during the first leg of the final against Manchester United. Remarkably, he still played, though he was not fit enough to take part in the return a week later. He graduated to the senior ranks at the age of 17 just before the start of the 2007-08 campaign. In July 2011 he joined Bradford City in an emergency loan deal.
